EMERGENCY EXIT

There are seven of them, of "mature" age, who have mistakenly left the nursing home where they live. The emergency exit was ajar... They try the adventure, take the plunge and find themselves wandering through the city... Leaving and reconnecting with life that palpitates, with hearts that beat wildly. The gestures are clumsy, the pace fragile, the memory flickering, but there's nothing to stop you feeling there, right now, totally alive! What does it mean to grow old? Behind this question lies another, charged with ambivalent emotions: how do we grow old? The Adhok company takes up these questions with a theatrical and choreographic fresco that distills the idea of enviable aging. If growing old implies mourning and renunciation, this involuntary fugue that turns into a beautiful escape suggests with delicacy and humor that it is possible to enter into rebirth at any age.

Doriane Moretus and Patrick Dordoignecreators in the street arts for over 30 years and driven by the desire to develop a "different language" for the public space, in 2010 they founded the Adhok Company to pursue their artistic adventures together. Thanks to their complementary experience and know-how, they create poetic shows that blend theater and dance. With creative teams heavily involved in the research and construction of their shows, over the past 10 years they have built a trilogy centered on the human being, which, like a journey through the seasons of life, crosses the questions of all generations. Issue de secours, created in 2012, is part of the first part. In 2016, Immortels asks "What does it mean to be young?" and in 2021, Qui vive, asks the questions of a woman and a man between the ages of 20 and 50.
