Suspended on racks on either side of a ballroom dance floor, 130 puppets wait for spectators to enter under the lights and come to life in their arms. Human-sized puppets, castanets, hats, masks and colorful costumes already seem to vibrate with the first notes of the orchestra. To the sound of intoxicating Latino tunes, the ringleaders set the tone: love and death meet to dance while there's still time! In this great carnival of life, there are no laymen or experts: only a host of puppeteers to set this multitude of inanimate beings in motion. From the basics of manipulation to the revision of a few steps and footwork, all the keys are given to let yourself be carried away. From couple dances to collective choreography, the dance floor takes on the allure of a Mexican fiesta of the Día de los Muertos. Who will lead the dance, love or death? Which puppet or human will lead the other in this devil's dance? With this festive experience, conceived in 2020 to celebrate their 20th anniversary, Les Anges au Plafond duo Camille Trouvé and Brice Berthoud invite us to dance with the inanimate, as if to remind us all that we are alive.

Puppeteers and directors, Camille Trouvé and Brice Berthoud created Les Anges au Plafond in 2000 to develop a multi-disciplinary project at the crossroads of the arts: theater, visual arts, movement arts, new magic and music. This cross-disciplinary approach is the driving force behind their research, helping to establish the puppet arts as a vector for innovation and aesthetic renewal. Their artistic language revolves around 3 main axes: the gesture of manipulation, space and the breath of epic - from founding myths to the figures of contemporary artists. For over twenty years, they have been associated with various theaters. As director of Center Dramatique National de Normandie-Rouen Since October 2021, Camille Trouvé and Brice Berthoud have been developing a lively creative theater project, open to the world, for a collaborative, unifying and generous venue. The pair's ambition is to bring tomorrow's stories and aesthetics to the stage through transdisciplinarity and cross-fertilization of the arts. In 2023, Kaori Ito invites them to join the committee of artists accompanying the TJP project.
