Journey to the land of the unrelated
Marguerite Bordat
Cie La Belle Meunière
How do you get rid of the idea of separation? La Belle Meunière's theater is based on its relationship with matter. Pebbles, air, iron, sand or mud act and interact as partners in play, invention and reflection. The reading of L'Inséparé. Essay on the world without an Other (PUF, 2013), by philosopher Dominique Quessada, leads Marguerite Bordat and Pierre Meunier to sketch out a new sensitive experience: that of explorers freed from the codes and constraints of an old model. They set out to discover another form of reality, without hierarchy. How can the theater account for the political and existential upheaval caused by the blurring of boundaries? What common impetus can emerge from the ashes of separation and the identity-based tensions that are its contemporary face? In this sonorous, plastic and embodied reverie, our Western ways of thinking, inherited from Greek thought, are thrown out in favor of a new fuel for the imagination. Everything is on the same plane, connected and responding to each other: actors, audience, things, time, outside, inside, words, thought, dust in the air, the slamming of a door, the softness of the floor, the death of the tragedienne, and the theater's red armchairs.
Set designer and visual artist, Marguerite Bordat soon embarked on an important collaboration with Joël Pommerat, with whom she forged her sensitivitý to the stage and all its components. Ever more attracted by attempts to renew the form, she favors collaborations with authors or directors attached to the dimension of research, endangerment, reinvention. She has long worked with Bérangère Vantusso and others (Jean-Pierre Laroche, Lazare...). Since 2012, Marguerite Bordat shares the artistic direction of the company La Belle Meunière and works on inventing theatrical forms in the spirit of a workshop. The focus is on the plastic experience, the confrontation of presence with the movement of materials, and the pleasure of grappling with the physical laws that secretly speak to our human condition. The company has already presented at the TJP Forbidden di sporgersi, La Vase, Securilif, Terairofeu and Bachelard Quartet.
