As a National Dramatic Center, the TJP accompanies artists and supports the creation of new works as much as it encourages their encounters with the public. On the occasion of the Micro Giboulées, the TJP offers three artists the opportunity to present a snapshot of their work in progress to the public, as a foretaste of the show in preparation. From one room to another, from one form to another, from one universe to another, this itinerary is an invitation to discover the artists, their research and their creative gestures in a different way, and to exchange ideas with them on the spot.

Louis Gillard is interested in the many marks left on the body by the traumas inherited from his ancestors, and in the attempts to break these intergenerational chains. The result is an initiatory dance in which the characters attempt to untangle the threads of affect that make them up, in order to find their roots in the past. The dancer-choreographer draws on psycho-genealogy and geology to explore the notion of strata, layers and transmission, using techniques specific to contemporary puppetry and new magic. In a game of appearances and disappearances using smoke and illusion effects, body casts enable multiple metamorphoses. Borrowing from butō dance as well as Japanese martial arts, Louis Gillard turns his body into a fragmented space, and materials (Indian ink, fabrics, wax, tissue paper, etc.) into the visible marks of his movement through space and generations.
After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Louis Gillard worked with the brothers Christian and François Ben Aïm, as well as Marina Mascarell, before his decisive encounter with Kaori Ito. Since 2016, he has performed in Dear, Battle mon cœur and artistic collaborator on Animal with the equestrian circus of the Théâtre du Centaure, and Waré Mono. In September 2023, he joined the artists' committee of the TJP CDN Strasbourg, and gave workshops at the Théâtre national de Strasbourg and the Haute École des Arts du Rhin. In 2024, Louis Gillard founded his company de(s)clic. Sensitive to the idea that every form is a process in mutation, he develops an instinctive approach to creation. This season he also presents at the TJP The Hundred Demons Parade and plays in Utopia Utopias.

YU OKAMOTO

Originally from Tokyo, Yu Okamoto studied ballet from an early age, before turning to jazz and urban dance. She immersed herself in contemporary dance after entering university. In 2011, she took the helm of the TABATHA company, creating performances, workshops and videos. She takes part in the creations Le Monde à l'envers by Kaori Ito and the opera Yuzuru by Toshiki Okada.

OUR CRAETHERA
Gorilla Gorillaï addresses the question of the almost human. Coraline Charnet is inspired by the resonance between the figure of primatologist Dian Fossey, who tragically disappeared in the Rwandan mountains in 1985, and the myth of King Kong. The giant monster holding a frightened woman in his hand feeds the dominant imaginary, whose weight she questions in order to probe the collective unconscious. Fragments (faces, hands, furs) of the simian elements we share with primates intertwine and entwine, blurring vision as they seek a line of escape: where the body escapes shackles and becomes chimerical. The director returns to the ritual foundations of puppetry tools as an extension of her research into the Western imaginary of Apes and Great Apes, initiated at the École nationale supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette.
After a career in the visual arts and animation, Coraline Charnet discovered the performing arts at the University of Lille. She then trained at the École nationale supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette, where she pursued a sensory approach to movement, texture and trace. Drawing on craft practice, and fascinated by the aesthetics that make up our environment, puppetry offers itself as a playground for metaphorical and sensitive exploration. In 2019, she will take part in the preparation and shooting of the film Annette by Leos Carax, with the La Pendue company, as 1re assistant puppeteer. In 2021, she co-founded the NoS CRAETHERA company with Tristan Lacaze, with whom she began a poetic research project combining art and science to explore our relationship with the living.
