Gabriel Dufay, a specialist in the work of Jon Fosse, winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize for Literature, is mounting one of his latest plays. This "scenic poem" takes the form of a love thriller: a man and a woman leave each other, meet again and try to understand what connected them and what still connects them, revealing their doubts and frailties. But it's hard to untangle reality from the past, memories from fantasies, in this apartment on the 14th floor.e floor: a man revisits the mother of his child, mixing eras and adventures... all the while being irrevocably drawn to the window threatened by the wind. After the creations of Uprooted by Kae Tempest and Black anger by Brigitte Fontaine, the director continues his dialogue between the arts, calling on choreographer Kaori Ito and performers from all horizons, as well as resorting to the digital arts. Mental confinement and ghosts of the past rub shoulders, giving life to tableaux vivants of projected and distorted images, in the manner of Bill Viola. He brings us face to face with our own quicksand, questioning the strangeness of our very existence.

After studying literature, Gabriel Dufay trained as an actor at the École supérieure d'Art dramatique de la Ville de Paris, then at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'Art dramatique. In 2008, he founded the Incandescence company, with the aim of defending a demanding form of theater that is in touch with society, featuring new, poetic writing that challenges the codes of dramatic writing (Roland Schimelpfennig, Jon Fosse, Kae Tempest, Brigitte Fontaine, Falk Richter...). A performer (for Jean-Paul Wenzel, Wajdi Mouawad, Denis Podalydès, Alain Françon, Célie Pauthe, Baptiste Guiton, Igor Mendjisky...), he also works for radio, television and film... He has also published books of interviews with Jon Fosse (Writing is listeningL'Arche, 2023), Denis Podalydès and Michel Bouquet, and an essay on the ghosts of theater (Hors jeu - masks to tear down, Les Belles Lettres / Archimbaud, 2012). He translates plays by Jon Fosse and Kae Tempest for L'Arche, and is working on a book about the poet Paul Valet, to be published by Belles Lettres. This season, he will also be appearing in The New York trilogy by Paul Auster, directed by Igor Mendjisky.

Vent fort initiates something new and different in my work. I've never written like this before. I'd say that Vent fort is a dream I put down on paper, with a nightmarish dimension, about these hidden forces that inhabit us. There are foreign forces in this piece, forces that can awaken on stage. "
