UN LIEU DE CRÉATION
The TJP Centre Dramatique National Strasbourg - Grand Est is one of the 38 Centres Dramatiques Nationaux (CDN) whose unique feature is that they are run by artist-directors. Choreographer Kaori Ito has been driven for several years by the desire to create a place for children and young people, and in 2023 she will devote herself to this project by taking over the artistic direction of the TJP.
In this place, Kaori Ito wants to dream the future with childhood and youth, and give it substance through art. She wants to invent new rituals for artistic gatherings that bring together bodies, laughter and a taste for sharing. She wants to make it a unique and essential place.
To achieve this, she has surrounded herself with a collective of artists including Louis Gillard, Delphine Lanson and Juliette Steiner. Together, they explore new artistic forms for children and young people. They also create opportunities for encounters with local audiences and artists, while working individually on their respective projects.
The TJP is not only a creative center, thanks to the diversity of its artistic offerings, but also a theater-tool with a range of support services for artists. First and foremost, the TJP has two performance spaces: the Petite Scène and the Grande Scène, each with a different but complementary stage/room ratio. There's also a construction workshop where sets can be built for both CDN productions and co-produced companies. Accommodation is also available, so that artistic teams can be housed directly in the theater. And, of course, there are the financial and human resources of the various trades who work here.
Accompanying, creating, hosting and distributing the shows produced here are the TJP's main missions, helping to make this theater a creative home dedicated to artists.
